About Adaptive Golf
The purpose of adaptive golf is to help anyone (with a focus on individuals with mobility and cognitive challenges) find the best techniques and resources to play and enjoy golf!
The GSGA's adaptive golf program is being developed by David Windsor, an award-winning PGA of America Teaching Professional with over 20 years experience. He is considered one of the country’s foremost experts in teaching the physically challenged, or Adaptive golfers, as we say. A multiple recipient of the Southwest Florida PGA “Teacher of the Year” award, David was also voted as North Florida Section PGA “Teacher of the Year,” in 2008. Since 1999, David has developed and instructed multiple adaptive golf classes on a weekly basis, for physically challenged juniors, adults and disabled Veterans. With this extensive program experience and knowledge of these processes, David founded the Adaptive Golf Academy in 2006 (www.AdaptiveGolfAcademy.com), to provide an education platform with an Adaptive Golf Coach training workshop for more continuity, safety and effectiveness in all programs.
David's dedication to teaching individuals of all ages and abilities has led to six North Florida PGA Section awards, including "Junior Golf Leader" in 2006 and 2010, "Teacher of the Year" in 2008 and the "Patriot Award" in 2011, 2014 and 2015, leading to his selection as the PGA of America National Patriot Award recipient for 2015. This award was given for his unwavering Patriotic contributions and dedication to disabled Veterans and members of the Armed Forces from World War II to Iraq/Afghanistan conflicts.
